About Neil

Thank you for taking the time to explore the origins of Tru Balance Bookkeeping. My name is Neil Monroe and I am the founder and owner.

I grew up in Des Peres, just outside of St. Louis, MO. After starting a family of my own, I eventually ended up across the Mississippi River in Belleville, IL.

While my children are all adults now (so they say), they are still a very important part of my life. I love my two beautiful daughters, Linsay and Sarena, and my aspiring son, Hayden. One is an artist, another becoming a doctor and the other serving our country in the U.S. Army. So proud of all of them.

Most of my professional career was spent in the technology space at digital marketing agencies. This was a great experience over the course learning to build and market content for clients. I was able to foster my need to be creative, analytical and solve constant challenges.

The Winds of Change

There came a point where I felt that a change was necessary to keep me excited about my work and the ability to help bring success to the clients I served. This is when I made the decision to venture out and find what other opportunities might be able to both renew that energy I once felt and that did not completely discard all of the experience that I had acquired throughout the last few decades.

Eventually, I landed on taking on a career in bookkeeping. This would allow me to do something that I never thought I would do: Start my own business!

My extensive knowledge of technology would play a key role in being able to get this new endeavor off the ground, especially in terms of marketing and branding. Now that AI is playing a big part of everything that goes on in any business and having worked in an agency that was pushing this already months before, this was a great boost to knowing where and how to begin thinking about its benefits in the accounting and bookkeeping industry.

I need to give a shout out to Bill Von Fumetti, CPA who is the reason that I am here at this juncture today. The mentorship program at Booming Bookkeeping Business that he has created has been my launchpad for this new career and am ever grateful for all the work he and his team have put together for those, such as myself, looking for a new path in their work life.
